Epicor Kinetic is the current name for Epicor ERP, the company's flagship manufacturing system, renamed in June 2021 with the Kinetic 2021.1 release. When a reseller quotes "Epicor," confirm it means Kinetic and not Prophet 21, Epicor's other flagship, which is a purpose-built distribution ERP for industrial and specialty wholesalers, not a manufacturing system. The two differ in architecture, pricing, and the partner bench that implements them.

How Kinetic is sold and what it costs

Kinetic is sold as a named-user cloud subscription, typically a base platform fee plus per-user and per-module charges, with license classes (full office users versus shop-floor and data-collection seats) that price differently. Practitioner estimates in 2026 place Kinetic cloud at roughly $100 to $200 per named user per month plus a base platform fee commonly quoted near $1,500 a month, with published low-end figures starting around $80 to $125 per user.

Implementation is the larger number: standard mid-market projects run $75K to $300K in services per 2026 benchmarks, complex multi-site programs reach $750K and beyond, and year-one totals commonly land at 2 to 4 times the annual subscription. The 2028 sunset and the 2026 platform changes

In January 2026 Epicor put an end date on on-premises Kinetic: the final on-prem feature release is version 2028.1, active support ends December 31, 2029, and only sustaining support continues after. All new capability, including the AI portfolio, ships cloud-only. Two more 2026 changes matter operationally. The May 2026 release (numbered 2026.100) moved Kinetic to monthly releases, and the classic desktop client is gone: from 2026.1 the browser-based UI is the only interface, so environments with old client-side customizations have to rebuild them in Application Studio before they can stay current.
